After Forty years in broadcasting, Kia retired from Radio Vermont Group last week and the VAB was at her going away party to wish her well!
Kia entered radio as a copywriter, where she was also responsible for community events. In-the-know about everything going on, Kia shared talk show and news segment ideas to programming and participated in fundraising events like the annual Thanksgiving food drive. Known for her quick wit, unique voice and acerbic personality, she became a very popular and beloved fixture of Radio Vermont and the Waterbury community. Kia hosted the Trading Post Program and morning drive news and has contributed during critical events like the floods, tropical storm Irene, 9/11 and the death of Governor Snelling.
Steady as a rock and dependable, Kia managed traffic for four radio stations. She also did a lot of administrative work for the VAB when Eric Michaels was President and Al Noyes was Executive Director living in Florida. Kia has overcome personal tragedy and has a special kind of resiliency that amazes her colleagues.
